Samantha Poitier was born June 6 1985 on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas to parents Oswald Poitier Sr. and Sebrena Poitier. She spent her childhood in North Andros, another island in The Bahamas, until moving back to New Providence at the age of 11.

Samantha, upon graduating high school, majored in Biology/Chemistry for three and a half years at The College of The Bahamas before finding the courage to pursue her real dream of studying to become a filmmaker/actor, a field of study not offered at any schools in The Bahamas at the time. She immediately shifted her focus and worked towards getting into film school for several years until she was able to enroll in 2013.

Her first movie credit was as a set dresser and PA on the movie, Colt Love released in 2014.
