Knives Monroe was raised in the Rio Grande Valley. His mother, Tommi Olivo, a social worker, nurtured and inspired his movie-binging lifestyle, and without her he would have never been a film maker. His father was a drug dealer and convicted felon. They do not speak to each other. At 24 he wrote and directed his feature film debut "Her Doppelganger" (2012) debuting at a local theater to over 400 patrons. His second film, "The Seven Hands of God" (2014) was met with equal aplomb. His third film, Morosa, is set to debut in the RGV sometime in 2015. Often regarded as a local curmudgeon and eclectic cinephile, Knives Monroe is best known for his unique cerebral story-telling and avan- garde film technique. His influences are Lars von Trier, David Lynch, The Coen Brothers, Andrei Tarkofsky, Larry Clark, Michel Gondry, and Paul Thomas Anderson. Professional Wrestling is also a massive influence on his story telling form. His dream is to one day write and direct a film adaptation to K.A Applegate's Animorphs. He lives with his girlfriend, Clare Nerio who is a writer and teacher, and two children, Aiden and Fiona in Donna, Texas.
