Álvar Carretero de la Fuente (Burgos, 1990) is a publicist and a film producer. Currently, he holds the position of Director of Awards & Global PR at the Joshua Jason Public Relations (JJPR) agency in Los Angeles. Since 2014, he has worked on the strategy and execution of over 120 promotion campaigns for the Oscars®, Golden Globes®, and various festivals.

During the 2022/2023 season, some of his notable clients included the Oscar® winner "Navalny" for Best Documentary, the film "1985" directed by Santiago Mitre, and the short film "Le Pupille" by Alice Rohrwarcher. His work spans from studio films like "Coda," "Belfast," and "Dune," directed by Siân Heder, Kenneth Branagh, and Denis Villeneuve respectively, to Oscar®-winning short films such as "The Neighbors' Window" by Marshall Curry, "Skin" by Guy Nattiv, and "Historia de un oso" by Gabriel Osorio. His agency also specializes in international films, having conducted campaigns for more than 50 countries.

Since joining in 2014, the company has achieved 11 Oscars® and 35 nominations for its international clients and studios, including Warner Bros, Amazon, Disney, Universal, Focus Features, Apple, Searchlight, and the animation distributor GKIDS, among others.

He is also specialized in media buying, having worked as an Awards Manager for Amazon Prime Video during the 2022/2023 season for their Emmy® and Oscar® titles, and as a Manager at the OMD agency for AppleTV+, on projects such as "On the Rocks" directed by Sofia Coppola, "Greyhound" directed by Aaron Schneider, and "Wolfwalkers" by Tomm Moore, as well as the first season of "The Morning Show."

In addition to his work in the film industry, Álvar Carretero is an independent producer with several projects in development in the United States, Iberoamerica, and Europe through his company DE LA REINA, founded in 2021. His producer credits include the feature films "La Sombra del Sol" directed by Miguel A. Ferrer, "Pecado Original" directed by Jean E. Lee, and the documentary "Olhando pras Estrelas" directed by Alexandre Peralta, a Student Academy Award® winner, as well as the documentary short film "Aqui Seguimos" directed by Álvaro H. Blanco.

He has served as a jury member at the Miami International Film Festival (USA), Lebu International Film Festival (Chile), and the Short Film Week of the Community of Madrid (Spain), and was a panelist at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival in its 2023 edition, in addition to collaborating with CineQuaNon Lab in Mexico. In 2023 he joined the executive team of the Monterrey International Film Festival (ficmonterrey) as Head of International PR & Talent

Álvar Carretero has given talks and masterclasses at universities including Carlos III University of Madrid, University of Navarra, Panamerican University of Mexico, European University of Madrid, and other forums, such as the Academy of Cinema in Paraguay. He has also been a visiting professor for the International Production Master's program at the Madrid Film Institute since 2022.

In 2013, he moved to the United States and began working at EGEDA US, serving as Outreach Director for the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Los Angeles and as a representative for Mediapro Services in North America until January 2023.

He has been a member of the Academy of Cinematic Arts and Sciences of Spain since May 2017 and is also a member of ASIFA - Hollywood. He studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Navarra and graduated in Business and Management of Entertainment and Producing at UCLA.
