Amanda J. Sibanda is a British-Zimbabwean filmmaker and storyteller committed to increasing the visibility of Black African women in film, both on screen and behind the camera. She holds an MFA in Filmmaking from the London Film School. During her time at the London Film School, Sibanda wrote and directed the short films 6 and Thula, which screened at the London Film Africa Festival in 2012 as part of the Gems from the Diaspora programme. Alongside developing her own work, she has gained industry experience on major productions, including working as a Set Production Assistant on The Batman (2022) and as a Key Location Marshal (dailies) on Enola Holmes 2 (2022). Her storytelling centres complex, nuanced and authentic portrayals of Black and African women, expanding representation within the global film industry.
