Sandro Bocci is an Italian film director and producer, renowned for his expertise in naturalistic filming, practical effects, and new media art. Born in 1978 in Italy, Bocci has dedicated his career to pushing the boundaries between documentary and art, science and nature, as well as everyday life and dreams.

Inspired by the beauty and intricacies of the natural world, Bocci has honed his skills in experimental shooting, ranging from macro photography to astrophotography. He has developed numerous innovative shooting techniques that have been utilized in feature films, documentaries, TV series, and new media projects. One of the distinctive features of his work is the prominent use of high magnification field of view footage and are deliberately devoid of CGI, compositing, or AI manipulation. These visually compelling images, derived from fluid dynamics, chemical reactions, or natural light rather than digital manipulation, offer viewers an immersive experience rich with enigmatic reverberations and unexpected discoveries.

Throughout his career, Bocci has had the privilege of collaborating with renowned filmmaker Terrence Malick on films such as "Voyage of Time" and "Song to Song." He has also contributed additional footage to TV series produced by National Geographic and HBO. His talents as a visual storyteller and content creator have earned him the status of a contributor for prestigious organizations like National Geographic and UNESCO, where he provides audiovisual content.  In 2012, Bocci directed his first feature film, "Meta," which was awarded Best Documentary at SIFF 2013, as well as Best Photography at Premio Libero Bizzarri 2015. In 2018, he collaborated on the transmedia project "Cogito in Space" by Daniela de Paulis, creating an immersive film for virtual reality. Bocci's second feature film, "Àpeiron," made its premiere at the Bogodà Experimental Film Festival in 2021. The film went on to be selected at prestigious international film festivals such as the Istanbul Experimental Film Festival 2021, Ribalta Experimental Film Festival, and AFO 57th International Festival of Science Documentary Films 2022. "Àpeiron" was also recognized as the Best New Media Film at NRFF Dreamers of Dreams 2021. In 2022, his short film "Halo" was featured in the event "Another World, Journey through Technology" organized by NHK at NHK Plus Cross Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan.
