After graduating from a university in the US, Sho began his career as a consultant with an international firm in Tokyo. A few years later, he pursued further education at Henley Business School in Reading, UK, specializing in Investment and Banking. Upon completing his studies, he joined UBS as a Proprietary Japanese Bond Trader, working in both Tokyo and London. Sho quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest Managing Director at the Tokyo branch of an American investment bank. In his mid-30s, Sho made the bold decision to leave his lucrative banking career to chase his childhood dream of acting. Despite starting at an age when most Japanese entertainers have already established their careers, he persevered through hard work and dedication, gradually securing small roles on major TV networks.

In 2010, Sho landed a significant role as "Seio Watanabe" in the China Hunan Satellite TV series, The Legend of Yang Guifei, starring alongside Anthony Wong. He often performed his own wire stunts and sword fighting. By 2014, he was cast as the lead, "Kei Matsuda," in Klevani: Ai no Tunnel, filmed in Ukraine with the cooperation of the Ukraine Embassy of Japan. In 2016, he appeared as Akihisa Yanagi in Shin Godzilla, which won seven Japanese Academy Awards and grossed $72 million at the Japanese box office.

In late 2017, Sho relocated to Los Angeles to further his Hollywood career. In 2023, he was cast as Yoshifusa in Hulu FX's Shogun, which won 18 Emmy Awards out of 25 nominations.

Beyond acting, Sho has been hosting his own radio show, "Sho's Cinema Supplement," on Rainbow Town FM (88.5) since 2012, reaching over 130 million people across Tokyo.
