Justin Price was born and raised in the American South, where his love for film was forged through a blend of spiritual grit, visual storytelling, and a lifelong obsession with world building. As a child, he was inspired by the larger-than-life epics of science fiction and fantasy, and by his teenage years, he was already sketching feature ideas and building DIY camera rigs from secondhand parts. That early creative drive would take him on a global journey across more than 20 countries - including Iceland, Japan, and Australia - where he developed the cinematic voice that now defines his films.

Price is a multi-hyphenate filmmaker, actor, director, and producer who has independently raised over $10 million to finance his slate of high-concept films - making him one of only twenty African-American directors in history to helm a $10 million feature without major studio backing. His work blends elevated genre with political undertones, emotional tension, and large-scale visual ambition.

He recently directed the sci-fi thriller Hard Matter (2024) starring Franzi Schissler, Harvey Keitel, Tyrese Gibson, and Frank Grillo, the futuristic love story I Heart Robots (2024), and the supernatural noir Reapers (2023) - all of which showcase his signature style of immersive world-building, philosophical intrigue, and genre spectacle. Known for wearing multiple hats on his productions, Price frequently stars in, produces, and directs his projects, pulling triple duty to ensure his vision is realized with precision and integrity.

Outside of his creative work, Price serves as Chief Operating Officer of Powell and Price Productions (2022-present), a full-service film company specializing in the packaging, financing, and production of elevated genre films. He also sits on the board of Baby Monster Media (2024-present), an emerging sales and distribution company focused on youth-forward, sci-fi-driven content.

Earlier in his career, Price collaborated with Kevin Hart during the launch of Laugh Out Loud (LOL) and built relationships with key platforms such as Tubi, BET, and Redbox, where he sold or licensed original intellectual property. He has secured backstop agreements with multiple equity financiers, creating a repeatable infrastructure for funding and delivering ambitious independent content.

Price studied filmmaking and acting in New York, Los Angeles, and London, with formal training in directing, producing, and physical production. His deep understanding of story development and international production logistics allows him to deliver ambitious genre projects on a lean budget - often rivaling studio-scale productions.

A professionally trained actor. He cites Daniel Day-Lewis, Denzel Washington, and Gary Oldman as primary inspirations for his acting craft, and models his directing ethos after James Cameron, George Lucas, and Christopher Nolan.
