A native Texan, Dionne Jones was one of the original forty people chosen to attend the inaugural class of The Actors Studio Master of Fine Arts program at The New School. While there, she studied under director Arthur Penn, actresses Ellen Burstyn and Estelle Parson, writing/directing teacher Arthur Storch but mostly under the watchful, pragmatic eye of Sam Schact. She performed at The Circle in the Square playing the lead in "Hecuba", "Major Barbara", "That Midnight Rodeo", and "Burn This".

With her Master of Fine Art in Acting, she returned to Texas and began making the rounds doing various plays, independents and feature films which allowed her the opportunity to work with such great directors as Robert Altman, Wes Anderson and Stephen Frears. "Going Independent" was the first time she tried her hand at writing and producing. The award winning indie film received favorable reviews in Variety, Ain't It Cool News, The Houston Chronicle and The Houston Press.

After moving to Los Angeles, writing began to take focus and she sold her first screenplay "Playing to Win" to Fox 2000. She recently wrote "Everybody Here Wants You", the Jeff Buckley biopic for producer/director Orian Williams (Control, Shadow of a Vampire) and Jeff's mother Mary Guibert. "The Goat Shearing", based on her own play, became her first directorial feature. Currently, she's working on a documentary entitled "Impact: The Set Photography of Stephen Vaughan" and a dramatic feature about famed producer Robert Evans.
