Santiago León was born in Mexico City. He made his first short film when he was 16. Studied a bachelor's in communication at Universidad Iberoamericana where he majored in film making. Then studied the Film Production Program at VFS. He has written and directed most of his projects. Most recently he created a successful brand of reality show which he calls "surreality television" with La Perla de Barrio (roughly translates as "The Pearl from the Hood"). A beauty pageant with girls from the most marginal hoods in Mexico City.
