The oldest of four children, Chevalier grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His parents divorced while he was four years old and his mother struggled trying to raise her children in Williamsburg/Bedford-Stuyvesant ("the Ghetto") and Lewis H. Pink houses aka "the Projects". While attending Public School (P.S. 224) Chevalier found his niche in acting in school plays and musicals. At the age of 13, his family moved to Farmingdale, Long Island where he stayed until he entered the US Air Force in April 1984.

Chevalier had a long and distinguished military career. He was stationed in Florida, Illinois, Nevada, California, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Germany. Throughout his 30 year career, he continued acting in local theatre, attended several acting schools/studios and used his acting skills during military training exercises as an Opposing Forces "aggressor".

After several small parts in short films and television shows Chevalier got his first break as lead in the Internet web series "Tales of the Frontier" pilot. Continuing his education on the set he began working behind the scenes as a production assistant and later on went to help produce numerous productions.
