James Konczyk was born in New Jersey and raised by his maternal grandparents. He has Polish and Italian ancestry from his father's side and Scotch-Irish, Jewish, and Hungarian ancestry from his mother's side.

Growing up he was active in martial arts for most of his life and was passionate about writing short stories and drawing.

His life would forever change when he met Juliet Landau at a sci-fi convention and was inspired to become an actor after watching, acting legend, Martin Landau's performance in Ed Wood. He went on to study acting at Montclair State University and the prestigious William Esper Studio in New York City.
