Following a distinguished tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1992, Garth pursued his passion for anthropology and archaeology, earning both a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Western Washington University (WWU) in Bellingham, with a focus on Paleolithic archaeology in the Caucasian Mountains of Russia.

His contributions extend beyond terrestrial landscapes, as he has undergone rigorous training in Underwater Archaeology and PADI SCUBA diving, allowing him to offer invaluable archaeological services for marine projects, ferry routes, bridges, and other aquatic endeavors, ensuring compliance with cultural resource management law.

Beyond his scholarly endeavors, Garth's passion for unraveling history has brought him into the spotlight as a co-host and expert on several acclaimed television programs on the History Channel. Audiences have been captivated by his insights and expertise on "Lost U-Boats of WWII," "Buried: Knights Templar and the Holy Grail," and "UFO Hunters," where his compelling presence enriches each episode with depth and authenticity.

In addition to his television appearances, Garth is the owner and Principal Investigator at Drayton Archaeology, a leading cultural resource management firm based in northern Washington.
