Marv Dorkman

Born and raised in Chicago, Karl's first professional theatre production was the Midwest Premiere of Marsha Norman's Traveler in the Dark at Chicago's Wisdom Bridge Theatre, directed by assistant to Sanford Meisner, and UCLA Theatre professor Edward Kaye-Martin.

He continued working in the Chicago theatre scene, appearing in productions at The Goodman Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, and Chicago's Shakespeare Rep Theatre. Karl originated the role of Charlie in the World Premiere of Scott McPherson's Marvin's Room directed by David Petrarca at The Goodman Theatre; then re-created his role in the subsequent productions at The Hartford Stage Company, Playwrights Horizons, and a commercial off-Broadway run at The Minetta Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village. Karl also originated the role of Solly in the World Premiere of Comedy Legend Shelley Berman's First is Supper at The National Jewish Theatre; he then toured nationally in Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby and J.K. Simmons, and ventured out to Los Angeles to appear opposite Ellen Greene, as David in the West Coast premier of Bob Randall's David's Mother at The Pasadena Playhouse and subsequent productions in San Diego and Santa Barbara. He received rave reviews, and received a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in a Theatre Production for his performance.

After appearing on television in episodes of NBC's Saved By The Bell: The New Class and Running The Halls, Karl returned to the Midwest to earn his Bachelors Degree from Columbia College Chicago, and to study at Chicago's Second City and Improv Olympic. Following graduation, he resumed his career as an actor, appearing as The Ghost Of Christmas Past in the inaugural production of A Christmas Carol at the new Goodman Theatre in Chicago.

Karl is now based in Los Angeles where he is a grateful Dad of an amazing kid. He also continues to appear in podcasts, theatre, film and television productions including an episode of the TBS sitcom Men At Work entitled "The New Boss;" The short film, Nothingman; and the American Premiere of RANK directed by Tony Award Nominee and Laurence Olivier Award Winner Wilson Milam.
