Jasmin Tarasin is an award winning filmmaker and artist. She creates emotionally charged heartfelt stories driven by humanity and honesty. Shaped by a passion for beauty, thought provoking imagery and intimate character. Jasmin's ability to work intuitively with actors and real people a like to evoke heartfelt performances is key of her work. Her creativity and honest and unaffected approach have brought attention to her work worldwide. She has directed documentaries, short films, commercials and video art installations.

She is passionate about creating change in gender equality through storytelling in every part of her work.

In documentary she has directed a one-hour documentary for ABC1 entitled Utopia Girls, the history of women's rights in Australia. This documentary was a finalist at the 2012 national AACTA Awards and the NSW Premier's History Award.

Jasmin's large-scale video installations have both been showcase works at Sydney Festival. Live (2010), featured musicians including Jarvis Cocker, Martha and Rufus Wainwright, Feist, Warren Ellis and many more, in raw performances. The Vine wrote that 'Live succeeds on every level to give an unbridled glimpse into the complex and intriguing art of self-expression. This is a really fresh idea executed to perfection'. In 2018 Jasmin created a video installation entitled Ghost Train, this work transforms the archetypal amusement park ride into a thrilling, sensual, psychological experience. Ghost Train was listed as the festival's hot pick and was sold out for the season.

In the last three years Jasmin has also been the driving force and ambassador for gender equality within the film industry and has worked in partnership with the Australian Directors Guild and Free the Work globally in creating mentorships, masterclass workshops and networking opportunities.

Jasmin is currently developing a feature film based on the novel The Burial written by Courtney Collins with assistance from Screen Australia and Film Victoria. She directed a short film as a proof of concept for the feature, The Story of Lee Ping. This film has been a festival and media highlight at Flickerfest and will appear at MIFF 2021 next month.

She is also developing both a TV series with assistance from Create NSW and Dame Changers entitled Family Happiness. This was a finalist in theSundance Episodic Lab. She is also developing a new large scale video installation work entitled Home in response to ever present domestic violence statistics in Australia. She is working with a variety of multicultural communities to represent a cross section of our country .

As a commercials director Jasmin was recently listed in the Top 5 directors worldwide for her commercial work on Ad Forum.

Jasmin has also created award-winning campaigns with global brands Google, Westfield, Nestle, APIA, Bonds amongst others. She has won illustrious national and international awards.

Her proudest achievement are her two children Sonny and Florence.
