Florian Guthknecht was born in 1969 in Furstenfeldbruck in Germany. He studied History and German at the Universities of Augsburg (Germany), Florence (Italy) and Munich (Germany). He received a scholarship from the European Union. He achieved his Master of Arts degree in 1994. Since 1992 he is a freelance journalist (primarily for the ARD and arte television channels and newspapers such as Suddeutsche Zeitung and the Munich Abendzeitung). Since 1999 he teaches at the University of Augsburg and in 2008 he started teaching at the University of Salzburg in Austria. In the year 2000, he founded the film production company, 'Flowmotionfilm' in Munich.
