Zack Hamm is an award-winning Vancouver-based writer, director, and producer whose work blends dark humour, heart, and humanity. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, to a commercial-producing father and focus-pulling mother, Zack has been immersed in the creative process from an early age, moving to Vancouver in 2011 to pursue a career in film.

After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2016, Zack turned to storytelling as both an artistic outlet and a form of healing. Now cancer-free, he has built a reputation for crafting authentic, emotionally resonant films that have screened and won accolades internationally.

Zack produced the acclaimed short film Chicken (2023), directed by Lucy McNulty and Emma Pollard, which was acquired by CBC and Samansa Media, and screened at over forty international festivals, including Santa Barbara ShortFest, Leuven (Belgium), ReelAbilities Toronto, and Oksa Bright (UK). The film earned multiple honours, including Jury's Choice and DEAI Awards at the Thomas Edison Film Festival, Best Script at Santa Barbara ShortFest, Best Overall Film at the Women's Comedy Film Festival in Atlanta, and a LEO Award for Best Performance by a Male in a Short Drama (Aaron Waddingham).

He most recently served as Executive Producer on How Brief (2025), directed by Kelly McCormack and starring Emmy Award-winner Tess Degenstein (Orphan Black) and Tatiana Maslany (The Monkey), produced by Floyder Films, StrangeCo. Productions, and Storiel Entertainment, with Executive Producers Shaun Williamson (Brightlight Pictures) and Spencer Lord (Last of Us). The film is an official selection of a major winter festival (embargoed) and a recipient of Women in Film Toronto's 2025 Pilot Project.

As a writer and director, Zack's latest film, The Ride (2024), continues to find success on the festival circuit, being recognized as a Festival Favourite Short at Cinema Diverse Palm Springs. Other producing work includes A New Leash On Life (acquired by CBC Gem and Amazon Prime) and the award-winning shorts Worst Day Ever?, Abreme, and Old Fox.

Dedicated to stories that amplify underrepresented voices, Zack continues to collaborate with longtime creative partner Sean Carey, developing a slate of films defined by bold vision, emotional honesty, and a lived-in realism.
