James Middleton is a producer and former United Artists production executive who was heavily involved in the "Terminator" franchise and, recently, large scale television series such as Jupiter's Legacy (2021) and Altered Carbon (2018) for Netflix. He was a key figure in the development of the worldwide hit Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008), and Terminator Salvation (2009). Middleton also oversaw and developed "Terminator" and Heroes Reborn (2015) comic books, novelizations, a theme park attraction, and the award-winning digital series Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters (2015).

In television, Middleton is a creative Executive Producer involved in all aspects of production including budgeting, scheduling, director selection, HOD selection, casting, prep, set oversight, VFX, and every stage of post-production including editing, spotting, playback, and color. Middleton has also spent significant time in foreign locations for shows such as Altered Carbon (2018) and Shondaland's Still Star-Crossed (2017).

On Heroes Reborn (2015), Middleton was Tim Kring's producing partner and oversaw all elements related to the limited event series including complex motion capture animation and production units in six different countries. As Executive Producer of WBTV's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008), Middleton worked closely with series creator Josh Friedman and veteran showrunner John Wirth to execute the acclaimed and ground-breaking series starring Lena Headey.

Independently, Middleton has developed and sold projects to AMC, SyFy, TNT, FreeForm, MGM, and Fox. Middleton was also Senior Vice President of Production for C2 Pictures and Cinergi. In addition to Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), C2 produced I Spy (2002) starring Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson. At Cinergi, Middleton assisted producer Andrew G. Vajna to develop the historical epic Children of Glory (2006).

As Vice President of Development at United Artists, Middleton reported to widely respected industry leaders John Calley and Lindsay Doran. Middleton contributed to the development of numerous UA projects including GoldenEye (1995), Rob Roy (1995), The Birdcage (1996), The Man in the Iron Mask (1998), Ronin (1998), and Supernova (2000). He also oversaw the acquisition and production of specialty films including Richard III (1995) starring Ian McKellen and Sundance award winner Hurricane Streets (1997).

Middleton graduated summa cum laude from the American University in Washington, D.C. and earned his MFA in Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts. Middleton received awards for his student film, "Solo Run," and created First Look, USC's ongoing student film showcase. Middleton has been featured on CNN and NBC newscasts concerning the entertainment industry and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America.
