Doug Chappel is a multi award winning comedian with over 27 years experience. Widely regarded as one of Australia's best live stand up comics, he has appeared on numerous television shows, was part of Triple M radio's 'Poets Day Friday', and has headlined some of the best and biggest Comedy Clubs in the World. Doug has performed on 5 continents in nearly 20 countries, including the US, Asia, the Middle East and the UK; while also entertaining the troops several times around Australia and in countries such as, Afghanistan, Dubai, the Solomon Islands and East Timor. Doug has had sold out Comedy Festival shows and has performed as the featured comedian on numerous cruise ships. Winning the prestigious 'Laughie Award' for 'Best Australian Act' and the 'People's Choice Award' in 2024 and 2023 respectively, Doug has also worked alongside acclaimed comedians such as, Dave 'Hughsey' Hughes, Jimeoin, Fiona O'Loughlan, Tommy Little, Kathy Griffin, Pauly Shore, Bert Kreischer, Joe Rogan and Chris Rock.

Doug was also the comedy director, resident comedian and co-host of Studio Australia's variety television show 'Armstrong Live' for two seasons, and won the 'Optus Award' for 'Best Entertainment' in the late 90's. Doug has since gone on to appear on numerous other TV programs such as Stingers, Offspring, Channel 7's Good Friday Appeal, Stand Up Australia, Champagne Comedy, The Comics Box, The Platform, The Insiders, Today Tonight, The Weekly, The Project, A Current Affair and The Comedy Channel.

In 1999 Doug took over as producer of the 'Looney Bin Theatre Restaurant' in Melbourne, where he wrote, directed and starred in the award winning show for five years. Doug has also performed live in some of Australia's most prestigious venues, such as The Enmore Theatre, The Sydney Opera House, The Athenaeum Theatre, The Melbourne Arts Centre, Regent Theatre, The Melbourne Cricket Ground and twice at Telstra Dome (now Marvel Stadium), where he performed to crowds in excess of 44,000 people.

Doug has also performed for Prime Ministers and some of the biggest corporations and sporting clubs in the country, such as, KPMG, Westpac Banking Corp., Department Human Services, Carers Victoria, Mc Donald's, The University of Melbourne, Monash University, the Australian Cricket Team and numerous AFL and NRL football clubs.

Doug has also had periods of homelessness in his youth, and grew up in culturally diverse suburbs, in low socioeconomic areas, therefore, Doug is sensitive to the challenges many people face and is able to deliver his comedy in a likable and non threatening fashion... but don't let his working class past fool you; Doug also has five degrees, including two Masters degrees, an Honours degree in Science and Psychology and he was awarded the Golden Key for being in the top percentage at Monash University.

 Doug has worked as a psychologist at both RMIT and at a Correctional Facility (Prison), a Counsellor, Youth Worker and before he embarked on his entertainment career, he worked a variety of jobs including Sales, Hospitality, Transport, Security, Trades and Labouring.
