Tonya Jones was born in Newark, New Jersey. She began her acting career in New York appearing in a number of off-Broadway and regional theatre productions. Tonya holds a BA from Howard University and MFA in Acting from Columbia University where she was awarded the Shubert Presidential Fellowship and worked with Tony-nominated director Diane Paulus (Hair) on a stage adaptation of James Baldwin's "Another Country". In her free time she likes to read, cook, travel and cycle. Tonya currently resides in Los Angeles where she is the co-founder of Forbidden Fruit Theatre Company.
