James Takahiro Miura was born in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Both his parents were involved in the Japanese-American community as musicians where his father was an MC and stage manager and his mother a professional singer in Japan. During his high school years he played football, was in the marching and jazz bands, the golf team, the California Cadet Corps program and attended kung fu classes. He was also involved in several dance troupes, performed in folklorico, and sang in several choirs. Growing up in the suburbs of Hollywood, he was exposed to television productions in elementary school and was invited to be on the L.A. Kid's show (1984). After high school he had a stint as a background actor and most notably appeared on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993).

As a young adult, he worked at various clubs as a DJ, performed as a singer songwriter and played with various rock bands as a singer and rhythm guitarist. While putting himself through college he worked several odd jobs till settling working at a center for children with disabilities. That experience along with working as an advocate for disabilities rights and assistive technology, later influenced his decision to go into public education. However, his passion for media arts and entertainment led him to focus his undergraduate studies in video and audio production.

Throughout his career as a Video Production and Broadcasting teacher, he has fostered the passions of hundreds of individuals to enter into the entertainment industry. As the executive producer for UTV Studio Productions at Upland High School, he mentors students on how to run a television station, is responsible for programming, equipment, and is involved in the development of content. He developed broadcasting courses that focus on journalism, various genre show development and multi-camera live event productions. His classes also focus on single camera film production where students learn the various roles, processes and industry standard equipment and software utilized in making movies. His reputation garnered an invitation to direct a short period-piece, Flight of the Sparrow, (2019).

James has always been fascinated by the craft of acting. He was under contract with an L.A. based talent agency. This collaboration has provided diverse acting opportunities.

A large body of his work comes from streaming live sporting and theater events, and by producing videos for various non-profits in Southern California through his production company, Miura Media.
