Kiya Sabet is a writer and filmmaker in Carrboro NC. Aspiring to make movies was always a dream, however it would not be where his professional career began. Life took him into many other areas as he became a Deejay, radio host, teacher, auctioneer, office manager, documentary film production assistant and writer all before pivoting and becoming a stay-at-home father to three wonderful children. This was by design in an effort to support his wife while she went through dental school and began her professional career as a dentist. As all kids do, his grew up, and as the time of being a stay-at-home dad had run its course, the search began for his next step. This led full circle back to his original passion...film! He began writing again and decided to produce his first project as a screenwriter and director. Production on his first film, a short, began shooting in mid-2020. It was based on a short story he had written a year earlier. The experience of working on a film from its inception as an idea, to the pre-production, filming and post-production was further confirmation that he wanted to be immersed in the art of film and it would be adventure he would take on in the next chapter of his own story. Kiya continues to write and hopes to begin work on a new film in the very near future.
