The author Dmitri Mamin, Sibiryak was his pen name, was born in 1852. He is known for his novels, short stories and fairy tales. Among his most famous works are, Grey Neck, written in 1893, and The Privalov Fortune. Many of his works revolved around the geographic region of the Urals, of which he was a native of. Mamin was married to the actress, Maria Abramova, and lived for a time in St. Petersburgh, Russia. He died in 1912.
