Heather was born in South Carolina to an Army Veteran father and a mother who was a homemaker and special needs teacher / administrator. She has two older brothers that have served their country in the military and as a law enforcement officer.

Growing up in a military family had a profound effect. She has said that "moving so often never afforded the time to be shy or self conscious." Travels and living among other cultures, languages, etc gave her a great desire to learn how to connect with people.

University time was focused on the study of Broadcast Journalism and a minor study in English Literature. With a B.S. from Abilene Christian University Heather began her career in the TV News setting. She spent time as a collegiate sports anchor; moved into a news producer role, writing and editing stories; then in front of and behind the camera in commercial work, finally leading to modeling and acting.
