Born and brought up in Hong Kong. Trained at Granada Television, UK and directed many major television drama and documentary films for the BBC, ITV & C4 that have taken him to Hungary, Cambodia, Madagascar, India, Mexico, Czech Republic, Australia, France, Berlin, & Ireland.

Artists he has worked with include Sir Ian McKellen, Richard E Grant, Toby Stephens, Sir Nigel Hawthorn, Jude Law, Juliet Stevenson, Robert Carlyle, Janet McTeer, Jack Dee, John Thaw, Jonny Lee Miller, Iain Glenn & Sir Ian Holm.

After winning the Independent Television Authority Award as a university undergraduate, he became one of the very few ethnic Chinese who directed professionally both in the theatre and on television in the 1970's onwards including a wide range of classical and contemporary plays in over 60 theatre productions in London, Edinburgh, Cambridge & other UK cities as well as in Australia and Hong Kong.
