Veteran baseball announcer, Ernie Harwell was born in Washington, Georgia. Harwell became an Atlanta correspondent for "The Sporting News" at the age of 16. By 1936 he was working in the sports department of the "Atlanta Constitution". From there, he became sports director of WSB in Atlanta in 1940.ā¦
