Paul Gégauff was a French screenwriter, notable primarily for his long-term collaboration with the director Claude Chabrol. He scripted 14 of Chabrol's films. He won an Edgar Award for scripting the crime thriller film "Purple Noon" (1960), a loose adaptation of the novel "The Talented Mr. Ripley"
