Terry Congie's family background shared many various facets with her Italian immigrant mother, Theresa Congie, who was a professional hairdresser and singer, appearing on one of Carol Burnett's TV episodes singing alongside her. Her Navy veteran father, Guidon William Congie, who was also an immigrant from Italy became a canine officer in the navy and later became a master dog groomer which cultivated her love for animals. Her siblings are Joan, Ronald, Joey, and the late Virginia Rose.
