Indrani is a filmmaker based in Kolkata. She began her career as an in house producer in a satellite television channel where she made several television programmes. Later, she has independently made several documentary films as well as short fiction films which have visited several festivals in India and abroad.CHHAAD - The Terrace is her first feature film .CHHAAD had a Market screening at Cannes and then made its world Premiere at the International Film Festival of South Asia, Toronto . Thereafter it was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival 2022 where it was awarded the Best Jury Award. CHHAAD was also Screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival in January, 2023. CHHAAD is scheduled to screen at the London Bengali Film Festival in April 2023.

Indrani's film 'Ladaakh Chale Rickshawala'- A feature length pan-Indian documentary won the National Awards for the Best Adventure Film, 2017. Ladakh Chale Rickshawala was screened at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2020, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2020, the Bengali Kannada Film Festival, Bangalore 2019, Hyderabad Bangali Film Festival, 2020. The Kolkata International Film Festival, 2018 to name a few. One of her important works is a short film in Bangla called 'Ekti Choto Chobi'. Ekti Choto Chobi was premiered at the Kalpanirjhar Short Fiction Film Festival,2011. Thereafter it was screened at the Kolkata Short Film Festival, 2011, The Imphal International Short Film Festival, 2012, The SIGHS 2012, Kerala, The Kolkata Shorts International Film Festival, 2013 where it was awarded the Best Screenplay Award. The film was also screened at The 13th Dhaka International Film Festival in 2014. Her short documentary 'Destiny' was screened at the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF), 2004 and at the Short Film Section of the Kolkata Film Festival, 2003. It was also screened at the Kurz International Film Festival Hamburg, Germany in June 2004 where it was highly appreciated.
