Raised in the UK and Canada, Jason Buxton is an award-winning writer, producer and director based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Buxton's debut feature BLACKBIRD premiered at TIFF in 2012 to critical acclaim and won the Best First Feature Award. BLACKBIRD went on to be nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards and won the prestigious Claude Jutra Award for Best Canadian Feature Film debut. Later that year, it was the Grand Prix winner at Ecrans Junior at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Most recently he wrote, produced, and directed his second feature SHARP CORNER starring Ben Foster and Cobie Smulders which had its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival, its international premiere at Rome Film Festival, and is being released theatrically in the U.S. and Canada on May 9, 2025.

Buxton is a citizen of the UK and Canada, and holds passports for both countries.
